I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts here... I was thinking that first we could have a ONE ROUND free agent draft, for all the college or european free agents. We discussed this a few months ago. Let's say that could start next Sunday, October 25. I suspect that draft to take very little time. Then, maybe we start our entry draft two weeks later - so Sunday November 8? We usually do things on the later side of things with the entry draft, but who knows when the league will start next season so this would give us more than enough time to get ready after the draft.

Timeline sounds good to me. We could do the entry draft a bit later too since there is a full off season. I have a feeling the season wont start on January 1st.

I think that sounds good as well - plenty of time to take it slow

I would rather do the prospects draft first. The nhl draft is fresh in our minds (as much as any hockey is now), and it would be good to do that sooner. Most prisodcts are drafted for the future not this season, so when the season might actually start has less impact on the prospects.
The FA draft should wait until closer to an actual season as things like injuries / a player getting covid ... is more likely to impact that draft then the prospects draft. Some teams may need to /want to draft FA to fill holes that develop as the nhl gets close to playing.

As well sometimes as teams clear space for new prospects and graduate older prospects into our junior teams, players get dropped to make room. These dropped players should be available in the FA draft.

Not everyone knows the college or european free agents so I would rather have entry draft first to avoid confusion

I'll wait till Sunday to see if there are any more responses, then we'll go with the majority, which seems to be entry draft first, then free agency draft. I think guys usually want more time to prepare for the entry draft, so we could start mid-november, unless guys are itching to start already.

Hi all, So it's clear that the majority want to do the entry draft first then the FA draft. Right now, it's almost the end of October, and we have (at least) two months till the season begins). Should we rush to do the entry draft soon, or should we call it for the beginning of December?
