Hi everyone,
Hope you're enjoying your offseason but it's time to get going again. The commissioners have been trying to figure out the next steps for the league.
Here's the deal...
The past couple of year we had a bunch of team vacancies that needed to be filled. We managed to fill all those spots - some were good owners and some never showed up (one of the good owners just de-throned me! Nice job Wombats).
This year, instead of opening up a "Who's Returning" thread, the commissioners decided on our own to replace 4 teams - namely Helderberg, Inglewood, Pittsburgh and Seattle. We have already replaced Inglewood and Pittsburgh.
Mikey has been working really hard to find new owners for Seattle and Helderberg. He is having a very hard time since whomever shows interest in the end doesn't want to do Proboards. So this leaves us with two options:
1. Fill the league with 12 teams and let go of Proboards. We would then use Fantrax chat and email (which can be sent through Fantrax as well - Go to Teams - Email league and then you can email whomever you want). This would keep the league at the same size and keep Fantrax Premium the same price for everyone.
2. Stay with Proboards and downsize the league to 10 teams. Fantrax Premium would cost a little bit more for everyone. We would then have a 7 round dispersal draft for Seattle and Helderberg's players and 2022 picks (which would make for a fun offseason). The salary cap would go up to allow for choosing players with salary for the teams already at the cap (the commissioners have also discussed raising the cap anyways since basically everyone is at the cap and this limits activity - but that's a separate issue we will get to later - we won't do anything without bringing the subject to the rest of the league first).
We have a great core of guys in this league. Myself, Jokers, Canucks, Rage, Sharks, Jets have been around for many years. Wombats and Ramparts have been great new owners this past year. Hopefully the two new guys will also be great. The question is do we leave it at that or try to find two more new guys.
In my personal fantasy hockey experience, leagues that rely only on Fantrax chat have a hard time, but most of us have been around for a while so I'm sure we could make it work.
The other option is to leave things as is - namely, stay with Proboards and try to find two new guys. But Mikey is tired of trying to find new guys and I can't find anyone posting that they're looking online, so we'd need everyone's help.
