I'm actually real good friends with a former NHLer and current NHL scout he even says the NHL is in massive trouble with the contracts they give out now and teams will have zero cap room on their teams. It's well known across the league he says that in a couple years no teams will have space to sign their big name guys and alot of guys will be making NHL money in the minors due to being waived NHL should know it is a trickle down effect with these gross contracts being handed out that is screws with cap pools too!!lol Honestly though, whatever the GMs vote on and gets passed, I will adapt and look at it as a challenge to figure things out!

I agree. All sports are. But we need to have some movement in here. It's not just dollars. Age is an issue in here as well

So after seeing the poll results and careful deliberation, we came up with some changes on the scoring system etc. Scoring: Forwards: goals 2.5. Primary A 2.25. Secondary A 2.0 Defense: goals 2.75 primary A 2.5 secondary A 2.25 Hat tricks 5 points +- 0 (old 1) PIMs .4 (old .5) PPP 1 (same) SHP 3 (same) Hits .3 (old .2) Blocks .3 (old .5) SOG .055 FOW .02 Takeaways .25 Goalies to stay the same. We will also allow 2 amnesty buyouts this off-season which will go back to 1 the following years. The reason for this is to help teams acclimate with scoring changes. Rosters to stay the same. Format to go from 4LW/4C/4RW to 3LW/3C/3RW/3Forwards Extending junior eligibility from 2 to 3 years Thoughts?

I really like the changes adds real life value to the players.
Primary assists > Secondary assists
Defenseman scoring > Forwards scoring

I don't like the faceoff won. an ok player can win 5 faceoffs a game. got a 1 fpts multiplied by 82 games, the guy win 410 faceoffs. In 2018-19 (complete season) there's 73 centers with more than 410 and around 10 more who would get that number if they didn't miss games. 6 players won more than 1000 faceoffs that season. Travis Zajac won 841 FO 2+ FPTS for him Danault 882 FOW that season giving him 2+ FPTS. He's already around 2 - 2.5, He'll get around 4 to 4.5 FPTS in 2018-19 the best winger was Kucherov at 4.67 ( 34th overall FPTS /G), Marchand got 4.26 (44) With that stat Danault got more value than the best wingers in this league? Nonsense to me I read somewhere here that we need to lower value to the bangers who bring almost nothing else, With the faceoff won we create the same problem. 4th line center will get as much value than 2nd or 3rd line wingers. I know I'm not a trading guy but with that rule I'll never trade a center for another player than a center. www.espn.com/nhl/statistics/player/_/stat/faceoffs/sort/faceoffsWon/year/2019

Pirates. I think you're reading it wrong. It's .02 per fow. Using zajac that would equate to less than 17 fp for the season. 841*.02

Yup, as Penguins said, you read it wrong. It's .02 per FOW, not .2 - huge difference. When researching the scoring, the most FOW I found in a game was Bergeron getting 21. That would be .42 points. And that is the MAX is could possible be. Generally, the better faceoff guys average around 12 FOW per game, usually maxing out 15-16, while most (even) top line centers are around 8 per game.

I know I'm the new guy and almost two months late to the conversation, but I'd like to ask some questions and share some honest opinions if I may.
My first question to everyone is, what do YOU like most about this league? Or what do you like in any league really?
For me, I agree with Jason that activity is a big part of what makes a league good and fun. If there isn't any activity you're either playing with yourself (not always bad LOL) or bored out of your mind. In my short time here I have already had conversations with 7 of the 11 other teams. That is fantastic. And everyone has been great to talk to. That's amazing; especially when you consider hockey is on hold due to a pandemic.
So, you have a foundation for a great league. As someone with a lot of fantasy hockey experience and the open mind of an "outsider" only a few days ago (and may be an outsider again after I share these opinions) I have noticed two things that I personally think hinder activity.
1. The need to keep players until you trade them, buy them out or their contract expires. I asked "what do you like about this league?" because if realism is one of your answers I get why you do it. But, if you were to remove this rule I think you would easily have guys like Kopitar and OEL on rosters because the risk of their contract would then be limited.
2. The two site system for managing the league. It is a lot of work for managers and especially the commissioners to maintain both sites. I mean I have already had to ask about the true availability of two players and found a duplicate on a roster. I am still not confident I have vetted my own roster fully. Fantrax does have its limitations. The chat function isn't great and it might not allow all of these league rules to stay, but with some concessions would be the better option (in my opinion).
Before anyone jumps on me for these thoughts on day 3 in the league, please understand that I am not trying to overturn everything you hold dear about the league. I am more than happy to work within the confines of the established bylaws, but from what I read above, I thought it worth making these feelings known for the good of the league. And, I wouldn't be upset in anyway if they were ignored or disregarded. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope everyone reads it with the positive perspective I intended.

I like to hear opinions.
As for the ideas.
1). I personally like to have the challenge of the cap, and contracts alike. I also am not a fan of streaming guys etc. I guess call me a realist persay as far as trying to have it mimic the real NHL somewhat
2)I know we've spoken about this for sure. I agree it's a pain in the ass to have both sites running. The issue , as you described above though, are some of the limitations that we would encounter because fantrax hasn't really developed some of those things yet. If we could seamlessly go that route, I'd be on board fully.

I'd love to respond more but I'm on my phone and it's annoying to type like this. Bill, your opinions are always welcome here. It's great to have owners who care to have opinions and voice them respectfully. Regarding number 1, as penguins said, the challenge of managing the cap and managing the 60 man roster is part of the challenge of the league. Allowing players to be dropped at will would be the end of that. From what I remember, the first year of this league ( over ten years ago) , we didn't have penalties for dropping players, and I just signed and release guys at will. Not much of a challenge. Now before I sign guys I really have to think it over. Do I have the cap space? Do I have the roster space? Even for something small like Matt Roy a few days ago I needed to think it over for a while. Regarding 2, as penguins said, fantrax is still lacking some important functions. Even running our drafts there had been super annoying.

If we could seamlessly go that route, I'd be on board fully. 1. Completely understood. However, if its impeding movement or forcing stars to sit on the free agent market, is it the better of the two evils? In this case I am not leaning in either direction or trying to sway anyone's opinion, but hoping people seriously consider the alternative and make that call for their own interests. 2. The chat function in Fantrax, while cumbersome at times, is usable and can be supplemented/replaced by another program. GroupMe has worked wonderfully for another league of mine and I am sure there are plenty of other options out there to be considered. As for its limitations to meet league rules, I think we might be able to problem solve some of those away as well. While it might not automatically prevent you from placing someone in your minors that isn't eligible, for example, neither does Proboards. If the fight is futile, I won't waste my time, but if the majority of people are open to the consideration I will do my due diligence to offer up some potential solutions.

I'm always open to ideas
As far as option 1, my idea was to try and get creative with some over 30 contracts or whatever, but it's cumbersome.
